BELLEVILLE - French for "Beautiful Village." Belleville a small village 10-15 minutes South of Madison on the Sugar River and on the new Badger State Bike Trail that runs from Madison to the Illinois border and connects to the Military Ridge Trail near Verona and the Sugar River Trail near New Glarus. Also known as the UFO Capital of the Universe.

ALBANY - Small rural village on the Sugar River and the Sugar River State Bike Trail about 30 minutes South of Madison. There is an Amish furniture store and other Amish stores outside the village.

BARABOO - 45 minutes North of Madison. Home of the Baraboo Bluffs and the Circus World Museum. Visit Baraboo on a day trip from the Madison area.

BARNEVELD - 30 minutes West of Madison. Home of Botham Vineyards - a scenic winery jut off Hwy 18 & 151. Taste their wines on a day trip from the Madison area.

BLACK EARTH - Visit The Shoe Box - largest independent shoe store. It is worth a stop on a Madison area day trip. Black Earth is about 20 minutes West of Madison.

BRODHEAD - The south end of the Sugar River Trail. Brodhead is about 40-45 minutes South of Madison.

CAMBRIDGE - Shop Rowe Pottery and other pottery places as well as great antiques and specialty shops just 15-20 minutes East of Madison.

COLUMBUS - Visit the Christopher Columbus Museum and great antique malls about 30 minutes Northeast of Madison.

CROSS PLAINS - Small rural community 10-15 minutes West of Middleton and Madison.

DODGEVILLE - Visit the home of Lands End and nearby Governor Dodge State Park about 45 minutes West of Madison area.

EVANSVILLE - Small rural community between Janesville and Madison. Evansville is about 30 minutes South of Madison.

FITCHBURG - City on the South edge of Madison between Madison and Belleville, Oregon, Paoli and Verona. Home of Quivey's Grove restaurant.

FORT ATKINSON - About 35-40 minutes Southeast of Madison and home of the Fireside Dinner Theatre and Central Coast Restaurant.

JANESVILLE - Visit Janesville and The Rotary Gardens - 16 acres of flowers, ponds and trees. Janesville is about 45 minutes Southeast of Madison.

LAKE GENEVA - About 90 minutes Southeast of Madison and a great stop to or from the Madison area if you like to shop fine stores or take a boat trip on Lake Geneva to see numerous mansions on the lake.

LAKE MILLS - A small community about 25 minutes East of Madison.

LODI - A tiny town 25-30 minutes North of Madison. Home of "Susie the Duck".

MADISON - Vibrant Madison - aka Mad City - is the hub of South Central and Southern Wisconsin. It is the State Capital of Wisconsin. Enjoy the Farmer's Market or a concert on the Capitol Square or at Monona Terrace. Shop State Street. Visit the University of Wisconsin Madison campus and the Kohl Center or Camp Randall for Wisconsin Badger sports.

MAZOMANIE - 25 minute West of Madison, a great stop for lunch or dinner at The Old Feed Mill restaurant.

McFARLAND - Small community a few miles Southeast of Madison.


MIDDLETON - Rated best City in The U.S. is the West edge of Madison. Several great restaurants and a great antique mall.

MILWAUKEE - Beer Capital of the World just an hour East of the Greater Madison area.

MINERAL POINT - Small artisan and historical community and old Cornish mining town less than an hour from Madison.

MONONA - Small city on South edge of Madison. Great antique mall.

MONROE - Cheese country about 45 minutes South of Madison.

MOUNT HOREB - Norwegian community 20 minutes West of Madison. Home of the famous Mount Horeb Mustard Museum, Little Norway and Cave of the Mounds.

NEW GLARUS - Known as "America's Little Switzerland", New Glarus is a small rural community with great shops and restaurant's located along the Sugar River Bike Trail.

OREGON - 15 minutes South of Madison, Oregon is known as the horse Capital of Wisconsin.

PAOLI - Midway between Belleville and Verona, Paoli is a small artisan community with some very unique shops on the Sugar River and along the Badger State Trail just 10 minutes South of Madison.

POYNETTE - 30 minutes North of Madison, Poynette is a small rural community.

PRAIRIE DU CHEIN - Historic river town on the Mississippi River 90 minutes West of Madison.

SHULLSBURG - Old mining town with some unique shops about 75 minutes Southwest of the Greater Madison area.

SPRING GREEN - 40 minutes Northwest of Madison, Spring Green is home of Frank Lloyd Wright's home - Taliesen. It is a small artisan community with several unique shops.

STOUGHTON - Norwegian settlement 15 Minutes Southeast of the Greater Madison Area.

SUN PRAIRIE - 10 minutes East of Madison between Madison and Columbus.

VERONA - Hometown USA - a small city on the Southwest edge of Madison.

WAUNAKEE - Small community 10 minutes North of Madison. The only Waunakee in the World.

WHITEWATER - 50 Minutes Southeast of Madison, Whitewater is the home of the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.
